About Us

Kantha and Reverie wellness is a collaborative therapeutic practice created by two South Asian immigrant Social Workers, Karthicka Suthanandan and Riti Dass.

The word Kantha comes from the traditional South Asian textile technique of stitching together fabrics from old and used garments to create Kantha quilts. To us this surfaces ways in which our own therapeutic work with clients brings together their individual stories, thoughts, emotions, action, and experiences to connect them as a work of art for the client. A story of resilience and resistance from strength based and social justice framework.

Reverie, a state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts, embodies the process of our work with clients as they gently turn inward to understand themselves and the world around them. For us it is also an end product of engaging in therapy which allows self to appreciate and accept the uniqueness of their mind, as well as come to exist in serenity within themselves.

Our own multifaceted identities help us to understand and create space for the ways in which  race, class, sexuality, gender, and (dis)Abilities can impact one’s experiences of mental health, trauma, and other struggles.

Currently, our services include psychotherapy. Check out our services for more information.
